Respite Care

Caring for a loved one is no small task. You understand this, and so do we. You’ve sacrificed your time, energy, and assumed the role of a caregiver to the one you love. Which is exactly why you need the time to rest and revive your spirits.

Our respite caregivers offer that exact relief. Allowing you the opportunity to have a coffee date with a friend, catch a movie with your spouse, or even take a needed nap. During this time you can rest assured your loved one is being cared for in the best of hands at 1776. Allowing your mind, body, and soul a small essential vacation is essential, even if its only for a few hours a week.

What are the Benefits of Respite Care?

Caring for a loved one requires 24/7 attention. This can begin to wear on your mental and physical health. You may find yourself:

  • Not eating as you normally would

  • Not getting a good night’s rest as often

  • Having low energy and not feeling well

Sometimes resentment can build and the family caregiver can take out mental frustrations on your loved one. But that doesn’t have to be the case. Our senior care services attend to the caregiver’s mental and physical well-being. When the caregiver (you) is healthy, so is the client. Respite care will:

  • Offer family caregivers much-needed downtime and relief

  • Prevent the buildup of resentment

  • Improve the health and happiness of you and your loved one

  • Allow you to feel refreshed, revived, and refocused when you return to family care-giving

How Respite Care Works

Depending on your preferences, you can schedule a time where we meet with you to discuss your needs. Based on those needs, a respite care services worker can come to your home for 8 or 24-hour help. These visits could range from once a week, three times a week, or more. While the respite care worker tends to your loved one, you’re free to relax. You can use these hours to meet other friends for lunch, get a massage, or even go to the library. The time is yours to rest and recover.
